Best areas to live for commuting to Oxford Circus / Soho

Oxford Circus and Soho form the heart of London's West End, where shopping, media, advertising, fashion, technology, film and hospitality businesses cluster. Oxford Street and Regent Street meet at the circus itself, and the streets of Soho and Fitzrovia to the east are dense with offices, studios, restaurants and bars.

Oxford Circus station is served by the Central, Victoria and Bakerloo lines, making it one of the busiest stations on the network, and entry is often restricted at peak times. Nearby stations spread the load: Tottenham Court Road has the Elizabeth line, Central line and Northern line; Bond Street has the Elizabeth, Central and Jubilee lines; Piccadilly Circus has the Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines; and Leicester Square is on the Northern and Piccadilly lines. Most West End workers can walk to their office from more than one station.

Direct routes come from many parts of London. Victoria line riders come in from Brixton, Stockwell, Walthamstow, Tottenham and Finsbury Park; the Central line from Shepherd's Bush, Notting Hill, Ealing, Bethnal Green, Stratford and Leyton; the Bakerloo line from Maida Vale, Kilburn, Queen's Park and Elephant and Castle; and the Elizabeth line from Ealing, Paddington, Whitechapel, Stratford and Ilford. The Northern line through Tottenham Court Road serves Camden, Kentish Town, Clapham and Balham. Walking from Marylebone, Fitzrovia, Mayfair and Bloomsbury is often faster than taking the tube for short distances. Buses along Oxford Street itself have been cut back and are slow, so for anyone coming from nearby, walking or cycling on parallel streets is usually the quickest option.
