Hampstead vs Belsize Park

Hampstead and Belsize Park are neighbouring north London areas on the same Northern line branch, both expensive, safe, green and quiet. They are often compared by people who want to live near Hampstead Heath without moving to the suburbs.

Hampstead is the more picturesque and village-like of the two, with steep lanes, Georgian houses, historic pubs and the Heath at its doorstep. Belsize Park suits those who want most of the same advantages — both parks within walking distance, handsome streets, calm evenings — with slightly lower rents, gentler slopes and a shorter trip into Camden.
